At The O'Hara School of Massage and Energy Therapies, we offer four distinct courses tailored to different interests and levels of expertise. The first two courses are weekend courses designed for individuals seeking to deepen their understanding of physical energies and their practical applications. The remaining two courses are specifically crafted for any type of bodyworker and fitness enthusiast, all healthcare provider or students enrolled in the massage program. We firmly believe in the importance of ongoing education and self-improvement.
WEEKEND COURSES
The Philosophies of Energy Therapies (16 hours)
Objective
The goal of The Philosophies of Energy Therapy Certificate program is to familiarize students with the principles supporting the Electric Body. Through this course, participants explore the concepts of energy flow and the exploration of subtle energies in the Electromagnet Field of the human body. Drawing on teachings from both Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Science, this program offers a comprehensive understanding of holistic healing modalities.
In particular, the program places a strong emphasis on understanding the primary three energy systems within and around the physical body, alongside techniques for activating them. All are welcome to enroll in this course, as there are no prerequisites required.
Teaching Approach
Participants are invited to dive into the program by delving into two assigned books before attending the weekend course. These engaging materials are provided upon enrollment. Our instructors vibrate a warm educational environment, aiming to stimulate active participation, guide students, and empower them to discover at their own pace.
The instructor facilitates an immersive learning experience which involves leading students through an array of activities created to deepen understanding of the Electromagnet Field of the body.
These activities encompass a nurturing approach to the mind, body, and spirit connection. From soothing breathwork to rhythmic chanting sessions designed to activate your own vibration, students are guided through meditation practices to attune to their inner frequencies. Dynamic and static movement are integrated to stimulate energy flow throughout the body, culminating in a weekend dedicated to exploring and harnessing our individual energy systems.

Sound Therapy Certification (25 hours)
Objective
The Sound Therapy Certification course teaches students to harness sound as a healing tool. Using gongs, quartz crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, and tuning forks, students will learn how to administer sound therapy treatments, facilitate sound baths, and guide meditations. The course aims to equip participants with the skills needed to use sound therapy for mental and physical well-being, both for themselves and others.
Teaching Approach
This immersive three-day intensive course (25 hours) combines hands-on learning with guided instruction. Students will engage in practical experience with sound tools, participate in meditation, and explore movement and chanting exercises. Demonstrations and discussions enhance the learning process, with gongs, bowls, and tuning forks provided. Participants will also can bring their own sound tools for practice under the guidance of expert instructors.
Interactive Learning
Students are actively involved throughout the course, practicing yoga and other mindfulness techniques to help deepen self-awareness. By the end, each student will present a sound bath to the class, showcasing their ability to create healing environments through sound. Upon completion, students receive a Sound Therapy Certification, enabling them to practice sound therapy professionally.
ADVANCE TRAINING PROGRAMS
Therapeutic Touch Certificate (100 hours)
We provide advanced training for Massage Therapists seeking to enrich their skill set. We firmly believe that by first tuning into your own energy field, you can then extend that awareness to others. Understanding and working with energy fields can greatly enhance the effectiveness of any practitioner.
Objective
Teaching Massage Therapists advanced skills involves scripting treatments, identifying biofield issues, and sensing magnetic fields. Our teaching approach starts with gentle hand placements both on and above the body, also incorporating pressure points and light tapotement. You'll also learn how to guide meditation and gain insight into the principles of sound therapy, and enhance your self-awareness techniques as a practitioner and human. Following that, we delve into exploring other unique energy modalities and their applications.
Teaching Approach
This training course is a month-long course in which the student dedicates twenty-five hours a week to this training. The rest of the required hours will be accumulated through weekly homework and logged massage hours. The students will participate in a variety of enjoyable and invigorating activities, including guided chanting sessions to harmonize your mind and body, dynamic movement exercises to enhance flexibility and release tension, and calming meditation practices to cultivate inner peace and connect with your Electric Body, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of energy dynamics within yourself and others.
Interactive Learning
Engage in hands-on practice by practicing hand placements and techniques with classmates, actively participating in treatments, and developing your own treatment plans. Share your experiences and insights during group discussions, where you'll also receive valuable feedback. Immerse yourself in a vibrant learning environment, where you'll feel empowered to explore and expand your intuition.
Fascia Specialist Certification (100 hours)
Objective
This course provides bodyworkers, fitness professionals, nurses, and caregivers with a foundational understanding of anatomy and fascia structure. Students will explore the relationship between fascia, joints, and mobility, with a focus on myofascial anatomy and movement. The goal is to help caregivers of all kinds gain confidence in their work by learning anatomy, stretching techniques for dysfunctions, palpation skills, and a deeper understanding of the human body.
Teaching Approach
Over the span of one month, students will commit 25 hours per week, split between classroom instruction and independent study. Classes meet three days a week for seven-hour sessions, with time evenly divided between theory and lab work. Lectures from specialists cover daily topics, while lab sessions provide hands-on practice with palpation techniques and myofascial modalities. Homework will complement in-class learning.
Interactive Learning
Students will engage in hands-on learning, practicing techniques on each other as well as friends or family outside the classroom. They will apply palpation skills and movement-based approaches in real-time to deepen their understanding of fascia and its role in mobility and function. This experiential learning model ensures students can confidently integrate these techniques into their professional practice.
The course covers three key topics:
• Weeks 1 & 2: Anatomy and function of the fascial system
• Week 3: Fascial health assessment and conditions
• Week 4: Exploring fascia through movement and palpation
